«Издание ради тщеславия». Существуют издательства, которые специализируются на выпуске произведений неизвестных и часто непрофессиональных авторов, которых более солидные издательства не публикуют, так как это для них невыгодно. Такому писателю предлагают вложить определённую сумму в издание его книги. Маркетинговой службы в таком издательстве нет, и, в конце концов, у гордого собой автора накапливается куча нераспроданных книг. Это называется vanity publishing, т. е. издание своих собственных стихов, философской болтовни и т. п. за свой счёт для удовлетворения авторского тщеславия.
